It is official, The HM Land Registry are finally accepting electronic signatures!

What does this mean for your move? Well, most of the documentation regarding mortgages, transfers of ownership, leases and more all had to be signed by hand which ALWAYS added a frustrating amount of time to the conveyancing process. Luckily, technology in the legal sector is moving at a fantastic rate and electronic signatures could be the nail in the coffin for old school paper-based conveyancing.

Considering what the UK property industry is currently going through due to Coronavirus this decision could not have been made at a better time. From Monday 27th July the HM Land Registry will accept electronic signatures. However, be aware this will be a trial faze, if it proves to cause more hassle than good, paper-based signatures will make a return… let’s hope not!
